Pattullo Seismic Early Warning System
Owner: Translink
Project Timeline: 1 year
Project Scope: Certification, Commissioning, Installation, Modifications, Quality Control, Subcontract Management/Supervision and Testing.
Project Description: This project was for the install and commissioning of a seismic early warning system on the Pattullo Bridge. This included the functional testing, qualifying and modifications to all equipment (field cabinets, weather station, closure gates, digital warning signs, seismic sensors etc.). Factory acceptance testing on behalf of the client was also performed. The project also required MTS to build an in-house test setup to ensure all devices were ready for field use and to allow engineering teams to perform software configuration and testing ahead of the on-site installation. We arranged for third party certification for pieces of equipment requiring certification for use in Canada. MTS was responsible to complete all field installation: underground service and communications wiring, fiber optic cabling, wireless communications, bridge mounted wiring, pole mounted cabinets, pad mounted cabinets, gates and arms and multiple large UPS installations.
